Liverpool could sign undervalued Rennes player Martin Terrier

Liverpool have exploited the transfer market in recent seasons to find undervalued talent. The Reds signed the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Takumi Minamino, and Roberto Firmino just two name four undervalued players in the transfermarket.

Now, Liverpool could exploit the transfer market once more for an undervalued player as Rennes’ Martin Terrier has emerged as a possible transfer target.

The 6’0″ forward can play across the front three and would be a transfer option if Sadio Mane leaves this summer as expected. Terrier had a brilliant 2021-22 campaign for Rennes, helping the club achieve European football.

Terrier is valued at just over £22 million. He scored 21 goals and tallied four assists in 37 Ligue 1 games. Terrier’s xG was 15.06 as he scored 5.94 goals more than the xG figure, which showed the forward’s ability to score goals from poor distribution. Fifteen of Terrier’s goals and five assists came from the left wing. He added six goals from the centre-forward position.

Terrier came through Lille before moving to Strasbourg on loan. He later joined Lyon on a transfer before moving to Rennes. In 84 matches with Rennes, Terrier has scored 30 goals and tallied 15 assists.

Although news broke a week ago that Liverpool are interested in the forward, reports have died down in recent days over Terrier’s potential transfer. Liverpool’s link to Terrier will only pique the interests of other Premier League clubs.
