News on Wednesday morning has emerged that Liverpool are interested in signing West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen. The 24-year-old scored eight goals and tallied five assists in 38 league matches for the Hammers last season.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool like Bowen due to his versatility and youth. Those two factors could lead the Reds to signing the forward for what is likely to be more than £25 million. The forward joined West Ham from Hull City in January 2020 for just over £19m. He is currently valued at more £27m by Transfermarkt.
While Bowen is linked with a move to Anfield, forward Xherdan Shaqiri is edging closer to an exit from Merseyside. Lazio offered Liverpool €12m last week in an attempt to lure the Swiss international to Rome. Shaqiri had a brilliant Euro 2020 tournament scoring three goals and adding one assist in five games for the Swiss.
It is believed Liverpool want around €15m for Shaqiri to leave. However, looking to bring in some money and freshen up the squad, Liverpool could accept a little less for the forward.
Despite Shaqiri showing signs of life during the 2020-21 Premier League season and playing well at the Euro 2020 tournament, he has failed to stay fit and make the Liverpool squad regularly. In 42 games in all competitions last season, Shaqiri scored just one goal which came in the Carabao Cup.
It is unfortunate that Shaqiri has been unable to stay fit and be a regular contributor to the side. He was good, low-priced buy, and has contributed to the team positively since arriving from Stoke City.
