The 2020-21 season still has a few months to run but already images are being leaked of top European clubs’ shirts for next term. Liverpool are no different and an image of next year’s shirt made by Nike hit the Internet recently.
Nike’s first Liverpool home kit was not a hit — at least not with everyone — upon its release in the summer of 2020. A large number of fans were disappointed with the entire makeup of the home kit and longed for the New Balance era to return. I was one of those supporters.
From the image of Virgil van Dijk wearing the supposed Liverpool 2021-22 kit, I must say Nike have done better for year two as kit provider. While I will say it is an improvement on last year, it certainly isn’t the distinctive top I was expecting Nike to dress the six-time European Cup/Champions League winners and last season’s Premier League champions in.
