This week, LiverpoolRedsFCBlog ran a poll asking which Liverpool player will have a bigger breakout season, Rhian Brewster or Harry Wilson.
Brewster is expected to have a big part to play for the Reds as a third-choice striker behind Roberto Firmino and Divock Origi.
Wilson, on the other hand, is expected by many to depart Anfield for good. So, how did Liverpool supporters cast their votes?
The 26 voters on our LFCRedsFcBlog Twitter page believe Brewster will have the better season. However, with Wilson’s performance against Lyon in Liverpool’s third preseason fixture, the winger showed he can play a big part in the Reds’ season.
Wilson could still leave Anfield and according to Jurgen Klopp, the player is discussing his future with the club. There are plenty of teams interested in his signature including Derby County, Borussia Dortmund, and Newcastle United. It will cost them around £25 million.
The winger scored 18 goals in 49 matches in all competitions last term. It was a breakout season for him. Wilson could have a role as a back-up winger for the Reds but will have limited chances to play behind Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. However, Wilson will most likely start against Manchester City in the Community Shield due to Mane being unready having just returned from holiday.
Brewster is just 19 and missed much of 2018-19 due to an ankle injury. It followed a fractured foot and Brewster missed a total of 468 days due to injury.
So, which Liverpool player will have a breakout season? It really all depends on whether Wilson stays at Anfield. If he stays, he should have more opportunities in the first-team than Brewster. Although Brewster has potential, he has both Firmino and Origi in front of him.
What do you think? Do you believe Brewster or Wilson will have the better season for Liverpool?
